Monday ~ Back to School

Happy Monday! Best wishes to students & teachers as they start a new school year. To all the homeschool moms & children, I wish fun, blessings and great success!!
.
My kids start high school today. I'm so blessed that they like school. My son is in 12th grade and my daughter in 10th grade. They are set with new clothes, backpacks, school supplies, and extras. We went to the grocery store to buy food so they can pack their school lunch. My "back-to-school" budget is drained. Sometime next month I really want to spend some money on reviving my wardrobe. I also want a new purse and shoes. I'm not a big spender and designer labels are that important to me. I just want pretty stuff at affordable prices. Love the pink and black combinations.

Home Decor Transformation
.
A few weeks ago I went to an estate sale. There were several sets of linen placemats on sales. Since I arrived close to the end of the sale, many of the items were discounted. I bought 4 different sets of placemats, at $1 per set. I had seen on another blog where a placemats were made into pillows, so when I found these I was inspired. I used the decorative gray placement for the front of the pillow and used the plain gray linen on the back. It is really very easy to put together, simply sew 3 sides, add the stuffing, and finish the 4 the side by hand or sewing machine. The stuffing was recycled by some old pillows I had laying around, which were garage sale finds from a couple of months ago. The price for the make over was just $2 for a set of 4 pillows.

.
The 2nd pillow transformation took me just a few minutes. I had a couple of pillws in a grey-green color, which I wasn't very fond of. I found the pillows at a thrift store, for the puporose of refurbishing them. I have so many fabrics in my apron collection and chose a zebra print. The hot pink trim was a discount purchase at Hobby Lobby. I had been saving it for an apron design, but I just never found the right use. I'm so glad I had it available because it give a gorgeous accent to the pillows. I like how the pillows bring color to my black leather sofa.

  1. Fantastic makeovers, Yoli, and thanks also for the prayer below for returning students. Our College (Junior High) is very much in my prayers as they had a hard year last year with student discipline and staff morale, and I appreciate all the prayer ideas I can get.
