Wednesday ~ Free Outdoor Laughter

I'm happy to join Heidi at Heart and Home for Wednesday Gratitude. As I'm writing this post and wondering what to write about, I hear my son laughing loudly with joy. He is upstairs watching his favorite TV television talk/comedy show "Red Eye". My Wednesday Gratitude is for the sound of laughter in our house. We moved to our new city 2 1/2 months ago and the transition has been challenging, stressful, and exhausting. It has been tough for my kids because they left behind their friends, school, and family. It had been a while since I had heard my son laugh so heartily. Thank you God for my son's joy and for being there to guide us these couple of months.

I'm also posting at The Thrifty Home with Jen at her Penny Pinching Party. My post is to promote FREE activities around your city. In this economy, we need to get creative about entertainment. There are many free activities, we just need to do some research. Start by going to your local Chamber of Commerce website or look in the newspaper for upcoming free events.
We spent part of our day at a festival "Luminaria" is San Antonio’s annual celebration of art and artists. It is free of charge and showcases all art forms in an outdoor setting and inside various venues downtown. There were poets, theater, artists, musicians, dancers, and lighting artists that luminated the downtown area buildings.

I'm linking to Outdoor Wednesday. My kids and I enjoyed a long day outdoors this past Saturday and it was a blast of fun. So my dear friends, head to the great outdoors. There are parks to be enjoyed, flowers waiting to be admired, and memories waiting to be made. Oh, and don't forget to take your camera.
Here is a picture we took this past weekend in San Antonio, TX where we spent the entire day outdoors!

Enjoy your Wednesday because it only comes around once a week.

  1. Hey Yoli! I just wanted to stop by and say hi. I know transitions after you move can be difficult. I hope that it begins to smooth out for all of you soon!

    Take care,

  2. Hi Yoli,
You have such a wonderful spirit. I know we would be friends in "real life", not just as blog fiends! Being thankful for simple things shows just the kind of person you are. I'm glad your son is laughing again! It takes awhile to get used to new places and esp. school, but they'll be okay as long as you are there with them.
We spend a lot of time hanging out at our favorite free activity - walking along the beaches in the area. Doesn't cost a penny and lifts our spirits so much, we just love it!
Thanks for linking in and I hope to see you again next week!
    Have a good day Yoli.
    XO

  3. Been in Texas only since July. Moved from Ohio. Change is hard. My five year old is adjusting.

I love San Antonio. We are going to be staying there this fall for a few days. I want to stay a few nights in Galveston too.

    Have a wonderful day.

  4. Hi Yoli,
Wish I could have been in San Antonio too! I so understand the transistion. I will be so happy to be moved & unpack and settle in. Wish you were closer...we could share a cup of coffee or a glass of tea. Hope you have a wonderful week and I'm so glad that your kids are adjusting!

    xoxo

  5. Hello Yoli,

Moving like that can be stressful. My two sons and I moved to NE TX years ago and it was quite a transition because we did not know a single person there. But it all worked out and we have very fond memories of our time there and now that we are back in FL we still maintain friendships from there after all these years.

From the beautiful smiles on your faces, it looks like you had a fabulous day!
