Pink Prayers is my tittle for the power for praying women. When we gather in one cohesive spirit it is guaranteed to bring miracles. Mothers, sisters, daughters, friends, lets gather in prayer for those affected by Hurricane Irene. Lets lift our prayers and trust in the greatness of God to bring us through safely. May God bless families with protection of life and property.

Behind the Door
Jesus is knocking at the door of your heart. Will you, like Zacchaeus, open the door and welcome Jesus in? There is a most beautiful verse in Rev 3. Jesus says, “Look, I am standing at the door, knocking. If one of you hears me calling and opens the door, I will come in to share a meal at that person’s side.” (Rev 3:20) It is up to you to open the door to Jesus, he will not force his way in. Zacchaeus was anxious to see Jesus so he climbed a tree (Luke 19:4). If you open the door of your heart to Jesus it will be worth it.

It's Official - My son is in College
It is official, my son moved into his dorm room yesterday. We packed up his stuff in our vehicles and drove him to the university early Saturday morning. He had several boxes of clothes, school supplies, and pantry items. It took us about 3 hours to fully unpack and get him settled in. Vinny's roommate is Edward, his parents where there too. They are wonderful people and we are blessed to have them in our life. Today we sent Vinny his first "care-package". We missed him being home last night. The house is a bit more quite. I hope he is enjoying his time. He has friends who moved in the same dorm and other who live at nearby dorms. I'm also so happy that he will also get to hang out with his cousins who are also college students. I'm so proud of my son. I miss him but more than anything I want him to be happy. He has all the tools to success and he has my constant prayers.

My Son at UT Austin
My son Vincent is leaving to college this Saturday morning. My little boy has grown into a wonderful young man. Being a child of divorce meant that Vincent had to grow up fast. He started taking college classes when he was a junior in high school and ever since then he wanted to be in college full-time. He often helped take care of his sister Gina who is 16 years old. They are 2 peas in a pod. They are very close and I know that won't change. They are siblings and best friends. Vincent is a product of a loving extended family. He has a wonderful grandmother who has helped raise him in many ways. She has been supportive and a solid rock of wisdom. Vinny is blessed with a loving dad who has always been there for him. They talk several times a week which is good because they have "man-talks". Vinny is also richly blessed with a huge family of loving aunts & uncles and lots of fun cousins. God has truly blessed him.
We visited the university last week and got a tour of his dorm. He bought lots of back-to-school items and he packed up things in his bedroom. The dorm building is very nice and of course the rooms are small. His friend Edward is his roommate. Hope they have fun together. One thing I liked about the dorm is all the areas for studying. I'm sure they are going to like all the eating places. Good thing the gym and pool are near by. I sincerely hope he takes time to make new friends, learn new cultures, and expand his vision.
Vinny will just be 45 miles away. Yes, I know that isn't far, but I'm still going to miss him. I'm going to miss his laughter, his conversations, and the way we prayed together before bedtime. I promised him that I wouldn't drop in unannounced at his dorm. A man does need his space and privacy. Back home I'm going to leave his bedroom "as-is" just in case he decides to visit occasionally. Gina already has plans to move his television and DVR to her bedroom....LOL. I'm very happy and proud of my son. I know he will do well. I send him into the world with my prayers and with the guidance of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Wednesday Wonderings
Found this awesome yarn and fabric shop online. The Purl Soho opened in 2002 with the hope of creating a friendly yarn shop where people could gather and share each other's creativity. In 2006, the Purl Patchwork fabric shop opened, just a few doors away from Purl. In April of 2010 both small stores moved into one big exciting space in Soho called Purl Soho. I would love to visit there their store in New York City. I imagine myself living in NY and going to small shops on a Saturday morning. Walking in and seeing lots of beautiful fabrics and meeting other ladies who love fabrics as much as I do. Finding time to wander around is theraputic and good for the heart. It stimulates our creative imagaination and it relaxes us from the worries of the world. For today, I sit at my desk wondering around the internet. Its fun, free, and fabulous! Go on, it's your turn....wonder the internet to find new places!

A Creative Spirit
What is your Creative Spirit?
We all have a creative spirt that gives us individuality and brings us happiness. What ever your creative talent is, I am here to tell you that you are special. You are an exceptional child of God and you make this world more beautiful. You have a sweet way of making people around you feel loved. You make a house into a home that is warm and loving, and your smile radiates like the sun. Your contribution to this life is essential and no one could ever replace you. You are exclusive, charming, and delightful. YOU are a CREATIVE SPIRIT.
Magazines are a fun escape from the hectic world. I enjoy magazines for crafting, home decor, and family. When I go the bookstore I make a bee-line to the magazines. I can hang around for a long time. Its like a candy counter with nuggets of sweet treasures. I LOVE IT. There is something about holding a magazine in-hand that is so exciting. There is something special about us women that we love to create a sanctuary nest for our family. We want to dance creatively and be noticed. I have been working long days this summer and when I finally get time to relax, I grab a magazine to re-fuel my spirit. Its nice to see the beautiful work done by other people. God gives us all gifts and talents, everyone is unique. The gorgeous crafts that people make are a testament to the beauty of God. Just as God planted colorful flowers and gave us breath-taking mountains, he too gave us a creative spirit. When I escape into my magazines for a few minutes, its my way of celebrating along with people and rejoicing in God. Another thing that is so very important is to give compliments. People need to know they are doing well. When I go to flea markets or craft shows, I make sure to tell women how beautiful their crafts are. A crafted item is an extension of the person who created it. Be generous in compliments because their talent is a reflection of God. Not everyone has the same talents or to the same degree, so celebrate the unique creative spirits. Find time to create in your own way.

Etiquette = Manners + Principles
My father was a tough Texas man who ruled firmly and raised his kids with high expectations. From a very young age we were taught manners and we were expected to use them at all times. We learned how to greet people properly, to introduce ourselves and master a cordial greeting. There were times that it seemed like harsh lessons as a kid but now as an adult I can appreciate his teachings. When we ate at restaurants we had to clean-up after we finished eating. We weren't allowed to rush into people's houses or raid their refrigerators. If adults came over to visit my parents we knew not to interrupt their conversation. I credit my father for many of my social skills. He wasn't rich or college educated, but he carried himself with pride and respect.
A well mannered child is truly a good reflection on the parent. Etiquette changes through the centuries and decades, and they will continue to evolve. There are lots of areas in our life where old etiquette rules still apply, but we need to balance them out to suite the 21st century. With social media being the norm for most people, learning about media etiquette is vitally important. Etiquette training can start as young as 2 years old with simple lessons of "thank you" and "please". Teenagers can really benefit from etiquette in order to help preserve their personal values. I have tried to raise my 2 teen kids with the same type of values and manners that my father taught me. I'm blessed because they are very well behaved and considerate, and I attribute that to the teachings of my father. Much credit must also be given to Mrs. Emily Post. She shared her love for social conduct throughout the world and set a foundation for people to follow.
Emily Post was born in Baltimore, Maryland on October 27, 1872 educated by governesses and at private schools in Baltimore and New York. She spent her summers at Bar Harbor and Tuxedo Park, which her father Bruce Price, a prominent architect, had been commissioned to design and develop. The season of her debut Emily Price met Edwin Post, her husband-to-be, at a ball in one of Fifth Avenue’s elegant mansions. Following a fashionable wedding and a honeymoon tour of the Continent, Mrs. Post’s first home was in New York’s Washington Square. After publication in 1922, her book, “Etiquette”, topped the nonfiction bestseller list, and the phrase "according to Emily Post" soon entered our language as the last word on the subject of social conduct.
