Simple Crafts for Harvest

Decorating your harvest home doesn't have to cost an arm & leg. You can gather a few pumpkins and gourds and place them around house. Buy a bundle of fall leaves and use them throughout the house. When it comes time to set the dinner table, simply get a couple of the gourds and place them as a centerpiece arrangement. Remember to get pumpkins in various colors, not just orange. There are gorgeous varieties of butter yellows and rustic browns. Next, stock-up on on cornucopias while they are on sale. Through the years I have bought pretty cornucopias at the Dollar store. I just revamp them a bit. This is the time to pull out old yarns or ribbons you might have laying around, especially the ivory or brown colored ones. use them to tie harvest leaves together. Use twine to wrap a leaf around a vase or lamp base. If you do want to spend a bit more you can buy pheasant feathers or tall cinnamon sticks to add to your table arrangements. This year I used burlap to wrap flowers I put in vases. Final touch are scented candles. They fill the house with the scent of autumn.
