Thursday ~ Sarape

I'm so glad to join in at Thankful Thursday where wonderful women gather to share wisdom and support for each other. I am also joining in at Life as Lori, where it is Get Your Craft on Thursday where the fun side of me gets to play like a kid in craft store.
.
I am so very thankful for the many blessings in my life. I have a spiritual father God that loves me and guides my way. I have 2 beautiful teen kids that fill my heart with joy. I am blessed with a good job that pays for our bills and affords us a little extra for simple pleasures. We are definitely on a budget and we are far from being spoiled. The economic state of our country can either bring the best of us or the worse. I choose for it to bring the best out of people. We need to return to the days that we worked harder to support ourselves and we had pride for a good day's work. We need to remember that the women that came before us were crafting and improvised to make their homes beautiful on a budget. Find your inspiration and do your own budget spin-off. Crows Nest Trading is my inspiration.

I just bought a gorgeous Spanish fabric that I will use to make pillows for my living room.

The fabric is used to make the traditional "sarape". The sarape started out as a quilted blanket used by the native Indians in central Mexico. The colors that were used told specific stories about the tribal heritage. The sarape was worn as a cover to protect the people from the weather and terrain. Today the sarape is used in many other different ways. Sarape fabric can be used to make home decor items such as pillows, table cloths, placemats, and aprons. The sarape fabric can also make stunning vests, jackets, purses, and belts. The colors are vibrant and the design ideas are endless. I can't wait to finish the pillows. I will post a picture of them when I'm done.

Have a FUN day!
Yoli :)
