Happy Wednesday to you!! It is time for me to join Heidi at Heart and Home for Wednesday Gratitude. Also, I'm joining for the first time at The Thrifty Home where Jen is hosting Penny Pinching Party....yeah!!!
.
I will start by giving my gratitude to God for blessing me with a good paying job and a crafting hobby that keeps extra income coming in. I'm a working single mom of 2 teens, and my income is all we have. I have to make our pennies stretch. I thank God that my kids have learned to live within our means and they are aware that everyone should have a budget, regardless of what they earn. God has taken care of us in so many ways, and I want to be sure that I take care of what God has gifted to us. I try to be good about what we spend. I make easy menus that are affordable. I also have no shame in admitting that I love shopping at consignments stores. I feel that we need to watch the pennies and God will take care of the rest.
My Pennie Post is about socks. I usually wear boots and jeans to work, so I wear casual black socks. I buy my socks at WalMart and have noticed that women's socks are way more expensive than men's socks. I have saved money by buying my socks in the boy's section, where I can buy the largest boy sock size and get more socks per pack for less money. Next time you're shopping for women's socks, try the boys'/mens' section.
Have a great Wednesday!
Yoli :)

Hi Yoli,
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy reading your gratitude posts! It's true, we are blessed with so much and it's important to show value and appreciation. Learning how to live within a budget is a valuable lesson to pass on to your children.
Isn't it amazing how much less expensive the men's and boys dept. can be for so many things? I've noticed that myself, but hadn't thought about the socks. I need some new ones for under my boots. I'll try the boys dept. at KMart! Thanks for the tip.
Have a great week, thanks for the sweet comment and for joining Wednesday Gratitude.
XO

Hi Yoli, I love your blog. I'm a new follower. The aprons are adorable!
ReplyDeleteHey Yoli, I'm so glad to get to know you from the Gratitude Wednesday meme. My mom was the same as you! She raised 2 kids with no help and sometimes had 3 jobs to make it all work.
ReplyDeleteWow, can't wait to look closer at your aprons.
Blessings to you!

ReplyDeleteI buy my socks at Wal-mart also, I will be going to the buy department next time for sure. I'm so glad that your craft brings you extra money. I just started to sell some things also to supplement my income. I will look forward to your Spiritual Sunday blog.

Hi Yoli! What a great tip! I will be going to Wal Mart to the boys dept. and look for some socks. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteIrma :)
Doesn't that drive you crazy that things are more expensive in the women's departments? Glad you found the boys socks work for you. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. I will check that out next time. I wear boots a lot during the winter and this would be perfect. Thanks for sharing this.

LOL, I love it! I'm laughing right now because I always get my socks mixed up with my 11 year old son's socks. Why have I been paying more for mine, when I often accidentally wear his because I couldn't tell the difference??? I'm posting this at my Penny Pinching Party tomorrow. Stop by and grab an "I Was Featured Button" if you like.
