Tuesday ~ Seattle Road Trip

On August 17, 1907 the famous Pike Place Market opened in Seattle, Washington. I haven't been there yet so I thought why not take a blog-trip. Seattle is Indian Country dating 10,000 years old and named for chief of the Suquamish and Duwamish people. It was a corridor for fishermen and miners traveling to and from Alaska. The beautiful western region of lakes and forests gave an abundance of salmon fishing, wide range of deer hunting, and vast selections of agriculture. Pike Place Market is the most to some of the countries best fish market. Farmers, merchants, and crafters bring their products to over 10 million visitors a year. At Pike Place Market you can find floral vendors, restaurants, antique shops, and the famous flying fish stands. There are endless rows of fruits and vegetables that go from the farm to the table. Chefs get to choose fresh ingredients to showcase at their restaurants. Washington state has a lot of natural beauty and culture to offer, and hopefully I will get to go there some day.

  1. My husband went to Seattle just about a year and ahalf ago on a business trip and came back with some pictures similar to this. He was telling me that that sign about the flying fish is that they throw fish from one merchant to another, so in a sense, I guess they are flying. Isn't all that fresh produce beautiful? God's color palette.
And I wonder what's in that little red pot. It looks delicious.
Maybe one day I'll get way out west. It's got to be beautiful. Are you going anytime soon?

  2. My youngest son lived there for 3 years after college(he just moved to California to work for Apple) and it is a great city. The flower stalls at Pike Place are the very best! They seem to go on and on and they are so inexpensive...wish I had something like that here! One of my husband's photos of the vegetables is on "Schmaps.com" which is some kind of digital travel guide/app.

  4. I live in Washington State! Grew up in a suburb of Seattle. Now live to the north on beautiful Whidbey Island. Thanks for sharing your "cyber visit." Hopefully some day you'll make it to our corner of the universe, and I'll make it to yours!
