Pink Saturday

It is Pink Saturday with Beverly at How Sweet the Sound. My pink thought is my desperate search for the perfect pink shoe. I want something fancy, feminine, and fabulous. I found the Pink Hydrangea Sandal at Nordstrom. I'm forty-something and it is never too late to feel beautiful. I can't wait for the the 2nd movie of Sex and the City.

Apron Giveaway

My Aunt Connie from San Antonio is one of the women I admire the most. She is independent, stylish, caring, beautiful, adventurous, and confident. I just relocated to a city near San Antonio, and I'm so glad that I have been able to spend more time with her. We go shopping, walking, and just enjoy the city. This weekend is Fiesta in San Antonio, and I'm planning on attending Sunday afternoon. Hopefully Aunt Connie can join us.

This weekend is "Fiesta" week in San Antonio, Texas. It started in 1891 and every spring the downtown San Antonio honors of the battles of the Alamo and San Jacinto heroes with city-wide carnivals, parades and parties. It is multi-cultural, family-oriented, and spring-vacation destination. The food is good and the fun is plenty. Many of my apron designs are inspired by the Fiesta flavor, so I use a lot of local touches in my designs.

I am having an Apron Giveaway, the Freedom of Speech Apron.

Monday ~ Apron Giveaway

Happy Monday friends. I love joining in for Blue Monday at Smiling Sally. Everytime is so much fun!! I absolutely love the Spanish Senorita picture. I can image her captivating soldiers and cowboys. She has a confident and flirtatious look; her hair gathered back as she captivates with her eyes and smile. As a single mom, I don't really go out on dates, so I sure hope that I can remember how to captivate a cowboy.

I'm also joing in at:

I fell in love with the fabric for this apron as soon as I saw it. The words captivated me and the fabic feel is very soft. The words on the fabric are bold and make a statement that reaches across the world. The simple commandment to "Love One Another" is the bridge that will bring unity in this world. Let’s start by accepting and celebrating our differences & similarities.

Saturday ~ Strawberry Mousse

I'm joining in for Pink Saturday with Beverly over at How Sweet the Sound. I went to the grocery store this week and bought a lot of fruit for my kids. They love fruits more than I do and they inspire me to eat healthier. The cost of fruits has been very high this winter so I was so happy to see that the grocery store had strawberries on sale. I bought 2 large containers of strawberries and chocolate dipping sauce. The chocolate was okay but now I want something lighter. I think I'm going to make mousse with the left over strawberries....yum, yum!

..
STRAWBERRY MOUSSE
2 cups sliced strawberries
3/4 cup boiling water
1 pkg. JELL-O Brand Strawberry Flavor
1 cup ice cubes
2 cups thawed Cool Whip
.
Divide strawberries among 6 dessert dishes. Stir boiling water into gelatin in large bowl at least 2 minutes until completely dissolved. Add ice cubes; stir until completely melted. Gently stir in 1 1/2 cups of the whipped topping until well blended. Spoon over strawberries.
.
Have a nice weekend my friends!

JOY Marie's Boutique

.
I'm in Purple Heaven. I just went over to my sister Jessica's blog JOY Marie's Boutique and saw the new shipment of purses she just received. She has several colors but Purple is my favorite. You have to go on over to see them. Jessica also designs jewelry, so knowing her she will soon be making a beautiful purple jewelry set to match.

Have a great weekend.

Friday ~ Freedom Apron Giveaway

Please see my Apron Giveaway details below.

It has been such a long work week. As a single mom, I try hard to balance my time between managing a home, raising 2 teen kids, working a full-time job, and crafting for my online boutique. It can be more challenging than fun most days, but the rewards are in my children's smiles. When they are healthy and happy, I know I have done my job. I know I'm most successful when God leads the way. I might not be married but the man of my house is Jesus Christ, and that suits me perfectly. This weekend the kids and I will venture around the Texas Hill Country, where we just relocated. The flowers are blooming, the air is crisp, and there is no other place I would prefer to be.

This Friday I am joining in at:
1. Show & Tell at My Romantic Home
2. The Shabby Nest
3. Fingerprints on the Fridge
4. Follow Me Fridays at Trendy Treehouse
5. Finished for Friday at Lit and Laundry
6. The Inspired Room
7. New Friend Friday at The Girl Creative
8. It's a Hodgepodge Friday

Thursday ~ Sarape

I'm so glad to join in at Thankful Thursday where wonderful women gather to share wisdom and support for each other. I am also joining in at Life as Lori, where it is Get Your Craft on Thursday where the fun side of me gets to play like a kid in craft store.
.
I am so very thankful for the many blessings in my life. I have a spiritual father God that loves me and guides my way. I have 2 beautiful teen kids that fill my heart with joy. I am blessed with a good job that pays for our bills and affords us a little extra for simple pleasures. We are definitely on a budget and we are far from being spoiled. The economic state of our country can either bring the best of us or the worse. I choose for it to bring the best out of people. We need to return to the days that we worked harder to support ourselves and we had pride for a good day's work. We need to remember that the women that came before us were crafting and improvised to make their homes beautiful on a budget. Find your inspiration and do your own budget spin-off. Crows Nest Trading is my inspiration.

I just bought a gorgeous Spanish fabric that I will use to make pillows for my living room.

The fabric is used to make the traditional "sarape". The sarape started out as a quilted blanket used by the native Indians in central Mexico. The colors that were used told specific stories about the tribal heritage. The sarape was worn as a cover to protect the people from the weather and terrain. Today the sarape is used in many other different ways. Sarape fabric can be used to make home decor items such as pillows, table cloths, placemats, and aprons. The sarape fabric can also make stunning vests, jackets, purses, and belts. The colors are vibrant and the design ideas are endless. I can't wait to finish the pillows. I will post a picture of them when I'm done.

Have a FUN day!

The Classic Glam Style

I love the classics; movies, cars, vintage clothes, and fabulous accessories. I wish I could have lived in the days of old when movie stars from the silver screen were larger than life and graced the world with exquisite glamour. People say that "Vintage" is back in, but I think it never went out of style. I was shopping at the mall a few days ago and saw this window display at Chico's and it reminded me of glamours movie stars. I really like the layering of different types of jewelry. My favorite is the fabric floral pin with pearls and sparkle. Totally Gorgeous!

.
My tribute to these glamours ladies who inspire me to glam-up and walk with beauty and grace.

..
Take the time to dress-up even if you're just going to the grocery store or waiting for your husband to come home. It doesn't have to be a huge expense. I find stuff at consignment stores all the time. I also look at the sale-racks at department stores. Find something small and build from there, then add a touch of lipstick and smile. Let your inner beauty shine through!

Tuesday - Red Burlap

It is Ruby Tuesday and I'm excited to see what Ruby Red is being posted this week.
I have several yards of this beautiful red burlap. I am planning on making table runners. I also have red suede leather fabric that I could use just as easily. I'm really liking the idea of Red, and I'm incorporating it into my home decor. I used the red burlap last year to make Christmas stockings.

I am joining in at Sew Cute Tuesday where Misty has a fantastic blog at Creative Itch Boutique and I'm also participating at Toot Your Horn.
Have a Great Tuesday!
