Monday ~ Craft and Recreation

I sincerely hope everyone had a safe and happy July 4th. We are having a fun long weekend in our new city. We went to San Antonio, Austin, and stayed locally for fireworks. I went to Gruene, Tx with my aunt's, where I bough another vintage kitchen towel. I just can't resist buying vintage Americana. I love the history behind it and the sweetness of simple days gone by.

I have Monday off from work so my plans are to get some crafting done today. For Blue Monday I'm sewing another red, white, and blue pillow from a vintage kitchen towel. A couple of weeks ago I made two similar throw pillows for the living room. My son liked them so much that I'm going to make a 3rd pillow for his room.

It has finally happened, my kids liked Peach Cobbler. Yeah!! I love peach cobbler. I don't bake it because they didn't like it. Yesterday we went to a Schoble's Restaurant in New Braunfels and they tasted it and liked it. There is nothing more comforting than a warm bowl of Peach Cobbler with vanilla ice cream. Yum!! There is no one else that says southern cooking than Paul Deen. Below is here Peach Cobbler recipe.

Peach Cobbler Recipe by Paula Deen
Ingredients
4 cups peeled, sliced peaches
2 cups sugar, divided
1/2 cup water
8 tablespoons butter
1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
1 1/2 cups milk
Ground cinnamon, optional
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Combine the peaches, 1 cup sugar, and water in a saucepan and mix well. Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from the heat.
Put the butter in a 3-quart baking dish and place in oven to melt.
Mix remaining 1 cup sugar, flour, and milk slowly to prevent clumping. Pour mixture over melted butter. Do not stir. Spoon fruit on top, gently pouring in syrup. Sprinkle top with ground cinnamon, if using. Batter will rise to top during baking. Bake for 30 to 45 minutes.
To serve, scoop onto a plate and serve with your choice of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Peaches are in season during this time of years, so get yourself some. Find a local grower and show your support for American small-town businesses. There are hundreds of recipes online for cobbler, grilled, dehydrated, smoothies, fruit salads, and much more. Delicious!!
