Need Your Opinion!

.
What do I do???? We relocate within 3-4 weeks. I feel bad that I haven't put up any Christmas decorations in our current house. I hate to put them up and just have to box them back up in a couple of weeks. I went online to look for inspiration and found this picture at Pottery Barn. I totally love it. The Christmas rustic scene is so me!
.
I'm torn because I don't want to be a Scrooge Mommy by not decorating, even though my kids are teenagers. What should I do???? I guess I could down-size the decorations this year but it wouldn't be the same. I just love decorating, making cookies, and the smell of pine & cinnamon. This relocation is my Christmas dream come true!

  1. It's O.K. not to decorate this year...or at least not to decorate very much. Perhaps you could put out just enough to fit into one or two boxes and then when it's time to go you will just have a little bit to pack.

  2. We are going away at Christmas so we have a smaller version of the same problem. I'm going to put some outside decorations up, so that the house looks nice from the street, but otherwise I think we will mainly just have our Advent ones up.

PS Are you able to do an Advent post today? Don't worry if you're not! We know how busy you are!

  3. Christmas is in your heart. Put a wreath on your door and a smile on your face.

  4. I think that is what I would do, downsize on the decorating but just put up a little bit, that way it won't take too long to take it all down, because even though we take our decorations down after the holidays moving you are taking down and packing way more than the average person, I would say don't add to much more stress to your life already the holidays tend to make people stressed and its about family.

I love the pottery barn picture

  5. I'm with the others; downsizing is the best thing you can do while you're in the process of moving. You might play Christmas music, and put a few small reminders up, but that's all for this year. The kids will understand. It may sound trite and clichéd, but remember that Christmas is about remembering Jesus Christ. The other things are in the category of nice, but not necessarily necessary. (I didn't mean to lecture, but. . . )

  7. We are going to be gone over Christmas for the first time in years. So I decided not to put up a big tree. I bought a small 4 ft. tree and it is sitting on a table. My girls aren't really happy about it, but I didn't want to decorate the house and not be here.
Maybe a small tree and a few decorations. Like the other commenters said, it won't be too much to take down and pack.
