Pretty in Pink

I have so many vintage aprons and the pink rose one below is my favorite.  I love how the fabric has black paisleys against the cream color fabric.  The roses remind me of the art drawings in school books when I was a you girl.  I'm much older but pink is still one of my favorite colors!!

Best Wishes to the Royal Couple

Tempting Thursday

.
Take time right now to enjoy this day.  Relax in knowing the promise God gave;
that you are a child of God up above, made in His image, and made in His love.

It is my birthday today, April 28th.  I feel so blessed and happy to be where I am at this point in my life.  God has been my provider, my teacher, and my strength.   My teen kids are my pride and joy.  When I see them I see the work of God before my eyes.  I am immensely blessed to be their mother.   My mother and sisters are women of wisdom, faith, and courage.  They are my best friends.  When I was kid I would play a lot with my brother who is a younger. Today I see him for the amazing man he is; smart, reliable, and honest.  I live in a beautiful community and I'm fortunate to work with people I like.  With all of my blessings, there is nothing materialistic that I wish for this year.  I am loved by God and family, and that is the greatest gifts of all.  I have plenty to sustain me and an abundance to share.

I am going to indulge in a sweet dessert for my birthday.
I am tempted by all of my favorites but will only choose one.
Tough Choice... they all look so good.

Wild Wednesday

 “Nobody succeeds beyond his or her wildest expectations unless he or she
begins with some wild expectations.”
Ralph Charell

Let's take a walk on the wild side today.  Get inspired to reach within yourself to find the courage you need to do something different, to stand out.  Believe in yourself!  Have faith in your abilities!  Reach out to a neighbor, comfort a friend, say hello to a stranger.  Expect the most wonderful things to happen, not in the future but right now. Allow absolutely nothing to hamper you or hold you up in any way.  Today may be the day that you can make a difference in someones life.  Creativity takes courage so let yourself explore the many dimensions of your heart.

“The truest wild beasts live in the most populous places”
Baltasar Gracian

"Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak;
courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen."
Winston Churchill

“Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air…”

Colorful Kitchen

I wonder if a prettier kitchen will improve my cooking.  Most likely I will be more motivated to be creative.  Also, I would have all the gadgets and pans I could ever need.  Maybe fun and exciting people would come an visit me.  I truly believe the the kitchen is the heart of the home.  My kids and I have gather in the kitchen for meals on a regular basis.  It is where we laugh, talk, and I referee the occasional teen bickering...LOL.   In the kitchen is where I saw my kids grow-up, and now are cooking  many meals themselves.  The refrigerator is the "information-station" with calendars and notes posted.   We are leasing a duplex-house so I'm not in my dream  house yet.  I have all faith in God that soon I will have a place to call my own.  I really don't require much, just enough space to live creatively.  I look forward to a beautiful and colorful kitchen.  I love the Rachel Ray show because the colors in the kitchen are so bold and colorful.

Good Friday

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16

It feels like a bitter sweet moment for God have sacrificed his son's life for the salvation of mankind.  Using the term "Good" Friday almost seems to overlook the other side of the experience "anguish".    Jesus Christ gave his life so we may have eternal life but he did so in such a horrific suffering.  I can't image Mother Mary's anguish as she watched her son Jesus Christ be judged, ridiculed, whipped, and crucified.  Her heart must have broken in a million pieces.  It must have taken every ounce of faith in God for her to go from one moment to the next.   She hurt too because she raised him, changed his diapers, and fed him.  She watched him grow, played with him, and sang to him as a child.  As he grew older, she began to learn from him.  He taught her discipline and submission to God.  Before her eyes the Christ child became the Savior of the world.

I can't even begin to image how Mary felt to see her son suffer.  My son will be 18 years old in a couple of weeks and he is getting ready to leave to college.  I have raised him alone for many years.  It has been a blessing and challenge to raise such a good young man.  I did the best I could to raise him with love, faith, and courage.  He is the son of my womb, a gift from God.  I have so much love for him and the thought of him suffering hurts deeply.
At 3pm on Good Friday many Christians will stop to pray and mediate on the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for us on the cross. Never has greater love been shown. I encourage you to stop in remembrance and reverence.

Jesus Sentenced to be Crucified

Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged. The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. They clothed him in a purple robe and went up to him again and again, saying, "Hail, king of the Jews!" And they struck him in the face. John 19:1-3

The Crucifixion

Finally Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified. So the soldiers took charge of Jesus. Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull. Here they crucified him, and with him two others, one on each side and Jesus in the middle. John 19:16-18

Jesus and his Mother Mary

Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, "Dear woman, here is your son," and to the disciple, "Here is your mother." From that time on, this disciple took her into his home. John 19:25-27

The Death of Jesus

Later, knowing that all was now completed, and so that the Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, "I am thirsty." A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus' lips. When he had received the drink, Jesus said, "It is finished." With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. John 19:28-30
