Loteria Love Story

Loteria is a bingo-style game with a deck of cards and picture boards.  I used to play with my great-grandmother and grandmother when I was very young.  We would gather together around the kitchen table to play.  At times we played for money and other times we played for bragging rights.  Regardless of the token, great fun and memories were to be had.   Growing up as a Hispanic-American has given me a two wonderful cultures to experience.  Both have a common foundation made of love for family and strong spirituality.  We are connected by Christian faith that grows like vines through generations.  I learned from my grandmothers and aunts how to infuse a goddess energy of strength and perseverance.  My aunts talked about beauty and walked with a mix of grace and sensuality.  Life was filled with hard work, poverty, achievements, riches, and intense spirituality.  As Latina women our passions are the men we love, the children we raise, and the legacy we leave behind.   Without fancy words I was taught to stand proud, be courageous, and dance to the music in my heart.   I thought it would be so fitting to blend love and culture in my project "Loteria Love Story".  I bought some romance novels and covered them in Loteria paper. They decorate my home and my heart.

Fun Places to Visit on Monday

1. Do you like your ice cream in a dish, waffle cone, pretzel cone, sugar cone or cake cone?
I LOVE rocky road ice cream in a dish....yummy!!!

2. Do you read the newspaper daily?
 I'm a total "current-events junkie".
I go online several times a day to read major news outlets.

3. Marinara or meat sauce?
It has to be marinara and authentic.

4. Last time you cried?
I cried when my grandmother passed away this past October.
My last romantic CRY in 2010 was when I watched Letters to Juliet.

5. What word/phrase do you find really annoying?
Life is what you make of it.  Don't get stuck in the "It's not fair".
If you don't like something....change it.
Great things happen when we are challenged.
Get out of your comfort zone and make a difference!

  10. What a beautiful book! I really miss my grandmother also, she raised me and we were very close. There are so many days when I wish I could go to her for advice or just to have a cup and tea and talk like we used to do. It's hard, so having those memories are very important.

I cried over the movie Letters to Juliet too :-)
