Tuesday ~ Sew Inspired

It is back to routine on Tuesday. I hope you had a good Memorial Day holiday. I went to an antique mall on Saturday and Sunday. I spent hours just looking around. I found bought vintage aprons, dishes, silverware, rolling pin, old photographs, and a gorgeous full slip. It was absolutely the perfect way to enjoy an afternoon. Everything I saw was a sewing inspiration. I also found spools of red ribbon that was so pretty I had to buy. Ruby Tuesday immediately came to mind. I don't know how I will use it but I couldn't pass up the bargain. Every masterpiece starts with an inspiration. Go out and find something simple and small, and build on it.

I bought a cute little doily that needed some mending. I just needed to sew it in a few areas and it was ready to go. I can't believe the detail work that made this such a beautiful piece of art. I admire someones talent to do such delicate work. To some people old stuff is trash but to me old stuff are treasures!

I put the doily in a special little corner of my house. I have an area this is cozy and quiet by the day bed. I enjoy taking thrifty finds and adding them to an area, and watch them come to life.

Have a great day!

Monday ~ Vintage

This Memorial Day I send my prayers to the families of those who served in the military and gave their life so we could have freedom. Today we honor their service and sacrifice. At 3pm is in the national moment of remembrance.
.
Today I will be taking a holiday from work. I will spend the time with my kids at home. I have several project going on. For Blue Monday, I am working on a delicate blue vintage apron I bought this past weekend. It is so beautiful and needs a little be of TLC to get it back to its' splendor and glory. It is just an apron to some but to me it is a moment in history. It is families gathering around the kitchen table as dinner is prepared. It is visions of mom in at the stove, wearing her apron as she bakes. The nostalgia of a time when things were simple and the life traveled at a slower pace. To revamp the apron it will take some re-stitching and creativity to cover up minor stains. The apron is adorable and a piece of history.

Sunday ~ Lasting Love

Ahh, the romance of new and old love. It is a wonderful gift from God to be able to love sweetly, passionately, and with such devotion. This Spiritual Sunday my heart is filled with gratitude, happiness and hope. Yesterday had planned a day of shopping for more flowers for our garden but God had a different plan. He wanted to plant seeds of sisterly love, so instead we went to the move Letters to Juliet. It was a girls day out; my Aunt Connie, my daughter Gina, and myself. We were 3 generations of single women enchanted with love. It was the perfect Saturday afternoon watching the perfect love story.

Letters To Juliet is an enchanting love story of finding new love and reconnecting with a love from the past. The story is about a friendship between two women who are looking for their handsome true love "Romeo". I won't give the movie away because it is worth going to watch. The characters of the movie are delightful and the Italian scenery is magnificent. The journey will change their lives forever, as they discover it's never too late to find true love.

.
Mother Teresa said that people hunger for love more than they hunger for bread. Today lets reach out to someone with a smile, a phone call, or a gesture of patience. Lets not rush through the day based on our agenda, but instead dance through the music of God in our heart.
.
"But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble." Psalms 59:1616
.
Love,

Pink Saturday

I want to wish Beverly a very happy 2nd birthday. Her Pink Saturday blog party is such a creative way to celebrate.

This beautiful Saturday morning I'm heading out in search of more flowers for our front entry garden. I just know that God was in a happy mood when He created flowers. We planted flowers a couple of weeks ago but still need to add more. We have a combination of purple geraniums and white pansies. I want to add splashes of hot pink. I love flowers in the house; in glasses, cups, baskets, boxes, tins, everywhere.

Time to go. I've got my camera, comfortable shoes, and a heart full of hope. I wish you a pleasant Saturday.
.
May you see the blessings of God in your journey.

Thursday ~ School is Out

Summer officially starts June 21st, but for my kids summer starts today. It is time for Thankful Thursday and a huge wish for a great summer. I am thankful for all the blessings that we have. I'm most thankful that my kids survived this past semester in their new high school. They made new friends and found their academic rhythm again.

Beneath My Heart - Best DIY Projects

I am so thankful that we live in hill-country in central Texas. We are near big cities yet live by small nostalgic Texas towns. There are rivers and lakes all around. Shopping malls and antique stores are minutes away. Fun is everywhere and good family times are sure to come. It is time for picnics, water parks, summer camps, and hopefully some rest and relaxation!
I work at year-round job but will take some vacation time this summer. Being in our new city is a vacation in itself. I love vintage shops where I can spend hours looking through every shelf and clothing rack. I also love coffee shops that allow me to read uniterruped with the aroma of fresh coffee. That is my idea of a fun summer.
Summer break for my kids means extra expense; fuel, food, and fun. I have to get creative, thrifty, and do a lot of things home made. To have a nice picnic, I can buy a basic basket at a discount store. To make good summer meals, we just need to think healthier and less sodas. Using things from home can help cut costs downs, like carrying an ice cooler with drinks or grabbing a quick sandwich at home before a shopping trip. Having a good summer doesn't have to break the budget.

Wednesday Gratitude

I am deeply grateful that through the blogging world we get to meet so many wonderful people. One of those is Heidi at Heart and Home. She has such a genuine passion for life and a huge heart for sharing. Here is a picture of Heidi wearing an apron from Apron Senorita.

Today I am grateful for the sucessful end of the school year. My son started summer vacation today. He is now officially done with 11th grade and will start his senior year in high school this fall. What happened that he grew so fast before my eyes. It was just yesterday that I was changing his diaper and holding him in my arms. My daughter Gina's last day of 9th grade is tomorrow. She is looking foward to a fun summer. Gina is so pretty, taller than I am, and just as spunky. I remember buying her little dresses and putting on cute hairbows on her. Now we enjoy dinners out and love wathcing movies together. Watching my kids grow made me long for times that were simple and innocent.

Go on over to Anne Geddes. Seeing her creative work always makes me smile from the inside out. I can see God's beauty through her precious pictures.
Have a wonderful Wednesday!!
